KuCoin — global cryptocurrency exchange with low fees and large token selection. Popular with traders for convenient interface and altcoin support. Registering on KuCoin requires phone number for two-factor authentication (2FA). If you want to protect personal number and work with multiple accounts, use virtual numbers. Full guide below.

KuCoin registration requirements

KuCoin requires:

  • Email address (mandatory)
  • Password (minimum 8 characters, capital letter, digit)
  • Email verification (code sent to email)
  • Phone number for 2FA (required after registration to activate main functions)

Phone number not required during registration, but mandatory for enabling 2FA. KuCoin requires 2FA for crypto withdrawal and some trading operations. Without number you can only top up account.

Step-by-step KuCoin registration

Step 1. Open KuCoin

Go to kucoin.com. On homepage click "Sign up" or "Register".

Step 2. Choose registration method

KuCoin offers registration via Email, phone number or Google/Apple. Choose Email (easier and independent from phone verification).

Step 3. Enter email

Enter new email address. For multi-accounting use separate email for each account.

Step 4. Create password

Enter strong password (minimum 8 characters, must have capital letter and digit). Example: KuCoin@2025x. Save password in password manager.

Step 5. Pass captcha (if required)

KuCoin may ask to pass captcha (usually reCAPTCHA). Pass it.

Step 6. KuCoin sends code to email

To specified email KuCoin sends 6-digit confirmation code. Check mailbox (may be in spam), find letter, copy code.

Step 7. Enter verification code

Return to KuCoin page, enter received code in verification field. Click "Verify".

Step 8. Account created

After email verification KuCoin account created. Can log into account.

Registration takes 3-5 minutes. Phone number not required yet.

Adding phone number and enabling 2FA

After registration we recommend adding number and enabling 2FA. This required for crypto withdrawal and full feature access.

Step 1. Enter security settings

In account find "Account" → "Security" section (or "Settings" → "Security"). Look for "Two-Factor Authentication" or "2FA" option.

Step 2. Choose 2FA type

KuCoin offers several 2FA options:

  • SMS (SMS codes to phone) — requires number
  • Google Authenticator (app on phone) — doesn't require number, more secure
  • Email (codes to email) — weakest method

We recommend using Google Authenticator (doesn't need number) or SMS (if need maximum protection).

Option A: Google Authenticator (recommended)

Select "Google Authenticator". Download app on phone (Google Authenticator, Authy, Microsoft Authenticator). Scan QR code from KuCoin with app. KuCoin gives backup codes — save them in secure place. Google Authenticator activated, number not needed.

Option B: SMS 2FA

If choosing SMS:

Step 1. Get number

Open turbon.rent in new tab. Choose country (USA, Canada, Europe — KuCoin accepts them). Activate number, copy it.

Step 2. Enter number in KuCoin

In KuCoin settings choose "Add phone number". Select country (must match turbon number). Enter number without special characters.

Step 3. KuCoin sends SMS code

KuCoin sends 6-digit code to number. Wait in turbon.rent account (usually 10-30 seconds). Copy code.

Step 4. Enter code in KuCoin

Return to KuCoin, enter received code. Click "Verify". Phone number and SMS 2FA activated.

KYC (Know Your Customer) on KuCoin and number

KuCoin requires KYC for:

  • Fiat withdrawal (rubles, dollars)
  • High-volume trading (without KYC limit on crypto withdrawal: 5 BTC per day)

When passing KYC will need document (passport) and face photo. Phone number will be checked — must match document data. This means using virtual number for KYC may be problem.

Recommend: for registration and basic trading use virtual number, but when doing KYC add real number (if you plan fiat withdrawal).

Number limits for multi-accounting

KuCoin has no strict public limits, but in practice:

  • One number can bind to maximum 1-2 KuCoin accounts
  • KuCoin analyzes IP and browser fingerprint
  • On multi-accounting suspicion may require additional verification

When registering multiple accounts:

  • Different email for each
  • Different numbers (if using SMS 2FA) — new number from turbon for each
  • Different IP addresses (mobile proxies)
  • 30-60 minute delay between registrations

Common errors and solutions

"Email already registered" — email already used on KuCoin. Use new email.

"Invalid phone number" — number failed check. Verify format, use USA or Europe numbers. Get new number from turbon.rent.

"Phone number already in use" — number already bound to another KuCoin account. Use different number.

SMS code not arriving — wait up to 2 minutes, then request new code. If not arriving, check in turbon.rent that number active, get new one.

"Invalid verification code" — code wrong or expired (codes valid 10 minutes). Request new code and enter immediately.

Account blocked — possible cause: many registrations from one IP, strange behavior. Solution: use proxy, wait between registrations, write to KuCoin Support.

Cost and timeline

Email-only (without number):

  • Email: free
  • KuCoin: free
  • Time: 3-5 minutes
  • Total: free

With number for SMS 2FA:

  • Virtual number: 50-150 rubles via turbon
  • Email: free
  • KuCoin: free
  • Time: 5-10 minutes
  • Total: 50-150 rubles

For 10 accounts with numbers: ~500-1500 rubles for numbers, plus ~100-300 for proxy.

Best practices

  • Use Google Authenticator for 2FA (doesn't need number, more secure SMS)
  • If using SMS 2FA — different numbers for each account
  • Different email for each account
  • Mobile proxies between registrations
  • 30-60 minute delay between accounts
  • Save 2FA backup codes in secure place (KeePass, Bitwarden)
  • Don't use same passwords on different accounts
  • Warm up accounts 2-3 days before full use (avoid suspicion)

SMS 2FA alternatives

  • Google Authenticator (recommended) — doesn't need number, more secure, works everywhere
  • Email 2FA — KuCoin offers, but weaker than SMS/GA
  • Backup codes — KuCoin provides when enabling 2FA, can use for login if 2FA unavailable

Conclusion

KuCoin — convenient exchange supporting different 2FA methods. For maximum privacy and multi-accounting convenience use Google Authenticator (doesn't need number). If need SMS 2FA, use virtual numbers from turbon.rent for each account. Following limits (different email, different IP, delays) KuCoin system won't notice multi-accounting. After account creation can immediately use for crypto trading.
